Warsash Wasps Summer Tournaments 2022

The Warsash Wasps Summer Football Tournaments are back for 2022!!

Taking place at our New Road facility, the tournaments will take place over 2 weekends

Saturday 7th May, Sunday 8th May, and Saturday 14th May 2022

The tournaments are for teams at U7 – U12.

Age groups are as per playing season 2021/22. The tournaments are largely attended by boys teams, however mixed or girls exclusive teams are also welcome to register and participate.

Each age group tournament will have 16 teams participating offering plenty of games and fun challenge

Registration (NOW CLOSED – TOURNAMENT FULL)

Registration is available to teams/clubs who are affiliated with a Football Association (e.g. Hampshire FA). An FA Affiliation number is necessary and required for each team/club registering.

The Wasps Summer Tournament is sanctioned by Hampshire FA.

Payment

To complete and confirm your registration, payment in full must be received no later than 7 days after your registration entry form is emailed through.

The cost of the tournament is £40 per team entered.

Further information and Tournament Details

Format

The U7 and U8 age groups will be 5-a-side non-competitive round-robin tournament, no groups, no leagues, and no overall winners/losers. Each player in each team will receive an individual commemorative medal of participation.

U9-U12 age groups will be held as 6 a-side competitive tournaments, based on a round-robin group stage followed by knock-out stages up to the final to determine the overall competition winner. Both finalists will receive individual medals, and the winning team will take home a tournament trophy.

Squad Sizes

For U7/U8 tournaments, which are 5-a-side, there is a maximum size playing squad of 8 players.

For U9-U12 tournaments, which are 6-a-side, there is a maximum size playing squad of 9 players.

All players must be named on arrival at the tournament when signing in, dates of birth for each player are also required to be listed.

Referees

FA qualified referees will be provided for all games in the Wasps Summer Tournaments and will apply to modified tournament playing rules.

The referee’s decision is final in all matters and is not to be questioned/challenged by players/coaches/spectators.

Playing Rules

The full tournament rules can be read here:

· Games will be started and stopped on the sound of the klaxon—no injury time will be played. If a team arrives late the game will start without them

· The home team will kick off to start the game

· Goal kicks will be taken from anywhere along the goal line (not the edge of the box) and the retreat line will be used for U7-U10

· Regular throw ins and corners are in effect, there are no offsides

· The home team will always start at the end of the pitch closest to the 3G

· For kit clashes the away team must change strips/wear bibs ahead of the start of the game (again we can’t delay)

· Shin pads must be worn. No watches, rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc

· No limit on substitutions, they are roll-on/roll-off—the game doesn’t have to be stopped by the referee, except for the GK (please make subs sensibly)

· No kicking out hands—goalkeepers are to place the ball on the floor or throw it

· All other playing rules are as per normal FA laws of the game

The Summer Tournaments will take place at Wasps New Road facility, which can be found at the following address:

There is limited parking on site (a small charge will apply on tournament days). There is other local parking in the vicinity, please park carefully and respectfully to our neighbours.

Facilities

The Warsash Wasps site has both male and female toilets available. Changing rooms will not be in use during the tournament dates.

The site is non-smoking (including vaping), and no alcohol is permitted to be consumed.

There will be refreshments available for purchase on the tournament dates

  • Bar-B-Que – hot dogs, burgers, fries, etc
  • Tuck Shop – crisps, snacks, chocolate bars, etc
  • Drinks Station – selling a range of hot and cold drinks (water, cans, sports drinks, tea, coffee)
  • Ice Cream Van

Sports Photography

On Saturday 7th and Saturday 14th there will be a sports photographer attending who will be able to take shots of your child/team in action, or throughout the day. Photos can be purchased on the day, or online after the event for a period of time.

Kit Rules

Playing kit colours for the tournament must be advised in advance at registration, and cannot be changed without express permission from the tournament organisers.

Each registered team must also bring along at least 5 bibs/shirts of a consistent colour, different to that of the main playing kit, to act as an ‘away strip’ when necessary. The tournament organisers will not be able to provide bibs for use on the day.

Shin pads are required by all players throughout the tournament.

No jewellery, watches, bracelets, snoods, etc are to be worn by players during the tournament.

Behaviour Rules & RESPECT

Warsash Wasps SFC is a Community Charter Standard club, and as such fully complies with and supports the FA RESPECT programme.

All players, coaches, volunteers and spectators are required to follow the RESPECT guidelines at all times during the Wasps Summer Tournaments. A copy of these can be found by following this link to the FA RESPECT codes of conduct

The tournament organisers views and decisions with regards to appropriate behaviour must be accepted and will be final in all cases. In extreme circumstances, any player/coach/spectator not displaying the required behaviours will be asked to leave the Warsash Wasps site and take no further part in the tournament.

No refunds will be given for any player/team/club asked to leave on the grounds of discipline or behaviour problems.

COVID

At this moment in time no specific COVID regulations are in place at Warsash Wasps other than following the general government guidance regarding monitoring and isolation for positive COVID tests.

The Wasps Summer tournaments will be held entirely outdoors, and so there is minimal risk of infection and transmission.

However, Warsash Wasps reserve the right to change their COVID rules at any point for the Summer Tournaments. All participating clubs will be advised of any changes to Wasps COVID rules and will be required to comply with them at all times.

Individual players/coaches/spectators/etc are advised not to attend the Wasps Summer Tournaments if they suspect they may have COVID, have been advised to isolate, or have tested positive for COVID.

Teams/clubs are advised to conduct lateral flow testing for COVID prior 24 hours prior to attending the Wasps Summer Tournaments.

No refunds will be given for any teams/clubs not able to participate due to COVID outbreaks/shortage of players.
